Final Project!

My final project, as big a prospect as it is, will be a 1 minute, fully (well, mostly) rotoscoped piece that's a short horror film with a twist at the end. I'm going to record it in live action with a good camera, and then rotoscope the people in it; the background will be edited in photoshop to look cartoony, but won't be rotoscoped, to save me a massive headache and a huge work load. I'll have to experiment with my FPS in the final project; 10 frames a second is fairly smooth but is a ton of work to do in just eight weeks.

The main emphasis on this in After Effects will be the utilization of simulated lighting; the main character will be holding a flashlight the whole time, and I'll use After Effects to create that simulation.

I want another big focus of this project to be sound; I want it to be properly creepy with a spooky tone in the background that is almost inaudible, but unsettling, with the crunches of leaves, the clicking of a flashlight, and the sound of breathing to take the front seat for the audience.

Schedule:
March 14th - This gets looked over
March 16th - Make appropriate changes as necessary
March 21st - Filmed, edited, separated into an Image Sequence, ready to go in Photoshop
March 28th - 25% of frames drawn out
April 4th - 50% of frames drawn out
April 11th - 75% of frames drawn out
April 18th - All frames drawn out
April 25th - Color in all frames
May 2nd - Incorporate photoshopped backgrounds, turn in project

Storyboards with basic plot;
A black screen gets lit up by a hand holding a flashlight. It is revealed to be a girl, walking through the forest. She hears a snap behind her - she turns around, and there is nothing. A close-up on her face zooms out to reveal a figure behind her that appears between flickers on her flashlight, which is starting to fail. She walks further into the forest until she finds a lake; she washes her face off and sees a reflection of a figure behind her. When she turns, it's Slenderman, poised to attack - but she smashes his chin with her flashlight and runs away. Slenderman just lays there, accepting his defeat.

Rotoscope Design Plan

Alright so for my Rotoscope, my sentence is "The humans were understandably pissed, so they called in the help of a bear, a falcon, and an alien."

This is a very mad me. The plan is that at the start, the section about the angry humans will have very natural colors, but as he gets madder and madder, his face will go red and start looking more cartoony, and the background (which I'm going to turn into a lakeside instead of a forest) will start to dissolve into a mesh of colors.

Just as another reference picture; I have a polar bear for my bear and a bald eagle as my falcon, and the dinosaur will act as my alien (I'm going to give him antenna), and the leaf next to him is gunna be a ufo.
